Ramirez started playing when he was three years old in the modality of t-ball. He kept playing through the years on his way to college. Steve committed to Riverside City College, but after one year he got transferred to Purdue, he was looking for a power five university.

After morning classes Steve goes directly to the Alexander Field Stadium, house of the baseball team, to do some extra workout. There are three other catchers competing for the same position. “We are all treated the same even if you start playing or you are on the bench. Or the role you have on the team.” Then he goes to regular practice with the rest of his teammates. Steve is one of the players in the Baseball roster that counts with a scholarship. “It pays for tuition, books, and financial aid.”

The Baseball team has to complete weekly study hours to help them to achieve their grades. “If you don’t get the hours, you get individual punishment, like 5 am individual workouts.”
